Mainstream media is a disgrace

us a flag under white clouds

Recent news have had us following the situation of the United Kingdom for a while now. Especially the horrific problems of far-right activism and racism the island nation has been griped with. The far-right terror and racist attacks seemed to just spawn out of nowhere, and no one has an idea why.

At least that's what you might think if your view of the world was solely based on the most popular news out there.

It took me a while to find an even somewhat decent article discussing the events in English. Here we go, it's called: Why are there riots in the UK? by BBC.

To summarize, the article paints up the background of the riots, being that a man wielding a knife attacked a danced class in Southport and murdered three young girls while critically injuring two adults and eight other children as well. After that, communities all around the UK have responded by gathering en masse either in protests, riots, or both. This has resulted in attacks on foreigners and immigrants and their establishments. Apparently, much of the attacks have been fuelled by posts on social media, claiming that the perpetrator of the original attack was a muslim immigrant, when in fact he was neither, but from a Rwandan family. Then, the article goes on to talk about how it was far-right that was behind this disinformation, and how the protesters are mostly far-right as well, even though normal people are involved too. After that, there is some analysis about the locations where the riots occurred, and how various entities have reacted to all this.

Why I found this to be a surprisingly good article, is that the reporter(s) actually mention(s) what the initial circumstances that led to the riots were, and that the article mentions at least a few times that there are ordinary British people involved in the protests and riots as well. But that is the end of my praises this piece of journalism is going to deserve. There are three major issues I have kept on seeing in the way media has been dealing with this the entire time.

First, all the medias, politicians, and authorities out there keep claiming that far-right entities are behind all of this. Whereas it is true that the far-right and those supporting anti-immigration policies have obviously been behind these riots and protests, the overall situation is hardly that simple. There are and have been your regular, everyday British people out there on the streets. Those who have simply had it with utterly destructive immigration policies and the horrific justice system involved, which by the way is present in pretty much every western society nowadays. It is quite normal for authorities and even for politicians to lie as a part of some agenda, especially when it comes to such a subject in which a foreigner can never be the one to blame and everything evil in the world is because of far-right, but that is no reason for the media to follow in those same footsteps of lies and deceit. The job of the media should be to question those things, not to start creating, boosting, and spreading policy.

Second, much of this has been blamed on our beloved topic of misinformation and disinformation. Even though not mentioned in the article, other media outlets have speculated on how Russia might be behind all of this, attempting to destabilize western countries by spreading lies. It is obviously true that the claim that this was done by a muslim immigrant was a false one. What the reporters themselves claim, however, is not any better. By straight out lying that this is all because far-right, and has nothing to do with immigration those media outlets are causing even more destruction and polarization than Russia ever could. You did know that the UK has been struggling with rioting muslims demanding the British to give in to shariah law as well, right? And that even amidst all of these protests and riots there have been counter-protests and riots by the British muslim population as well. That, of course does not get mentioned in the mainstream media. The hypocrisy and cover-ups are sickening.

Thirdly – and probably as the worst of it all – nobody in the media seems to care of the fact that three children are dead, and that bad immigration policies obviously influenced those events. Even the fact that such an event occurred, and at the top of everyone's mind is the idea that this must have been because of immigration speaks volumes. No wonder it is easy to spread a lie about the attacker being a muslim immigrant – that is simply what people would find believable, and anger as a feeling to react to such a horrible attack is simply human. But no, what the media is worried about is far-right rioting.

Let me conclude by saying once again that the absolutely horrible attack in Southport was wrong, and the perpetrator should be punished as severely as possible.

Let me also boost that message by saying that anyone attacking someone of (possibly) a foreign background who has had nothing to do with the murders is also in the wrong, and should be punished as well.

And let me end by saying that the western mainstream media is absolutely loathsome and should as a default be questioned and criticized at all times.
